UP, UP AND AWAY

We're away - and if ballooning doesn't actually take you into a fourth dimension, that's how it feels. Moving with the wind, with no perceptible breeze around you, the world takes on a curiously peaceful nature. Sounds of everyday life - a dog barking, children playing, a lawn mower spluttering - feed up to our basket like a background soundtrack.

From the ground, the city and its suburbs might seem haphazard and disjointed; but up here, the jigsaw falls into place and makes sense, literally beautifully.

We set down with little more than a gentle bump, a collective sigh and a short drag along the ground. Once we all helped with deflation and packing (you'll never complain about a king-size duvet cover again) it was no more than a short ride back to base.

I don't for a moment suppose the Antara was designed to mimic the ride quality of a balloon, but it was another smooth, enjoyable ride home. Whether you live in the city or take your adventures in the country, it's what exploring is about. A real gem.
