HERE COMES THE SUMMER
9. SCARE THE KIDS!
Haunted houses, castles, abbeys, even old stations abound in Britain. Scotland has the splendidly spooky Glamis Castle in Tayside where Lady Jane Glamis was put horribly to death, unjustly accused of being a witch; and in Pevensey Castle in Sussex, Lady Joan Pelham is said to lurk around the walls. Theme parks offer terrifying experiences, too - Thorpe Park's Vortex or the old favourite, Colossus, or try Alton Towers' Spinball Whizzer.
10. AND IF IT RAINS?
Just think of rain as a chance to visit art galleries, or palaces like Hampton Court, if cinema or shopping sound too ordinary; if youngsters don't find the local leisure centre special enough, many museums now offer interactive experiences; London's Science and Natural History museums, York's Jorvik (Viking) and National Railway museums are all superb.
ASTRA TWINTOP
Something else that we can thoroughly recommend for the summer (and for the rest of the year, too, come to that) is the Astra TwinTop - and especially the rather special TwinTop Exclusiv Black Special Edition. Not only is it the convertible you dreamed of for the summer, but its brilliant three-part folding roof lets you enjoy it as a hardtop coupé when you prefer. And in true special model style, it offers even more equipment, but unlike some it does so while actually dropping the usual price. You can read all about it here - and you still have time to think about enjoying TwinTop motoring for summer.
