Starting here, read about the stunning performance and mile-eating abilities of the Corsa VXR. But Vauxhall knows that although there are many customers who appreciate its style and sporty driving dynamics, they are perfectly happy settling for a little less power. So Vauxhall has created another sporty Corsa. Available to order now but in showrooms from September, it will bring a legendary badge back to Vauxhall showrooms - the SRi.
Available in three or five-door form, it's powered by a detuned 150PS version of the Corsa VXR's superb turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Or if you prefer, by a 125PS 1.7CDTi turbodiesel.
But all things are relative. The Corsa SRi still offers a top speed of 130mph and 0-60mph in just 7.6 seconds (petrol), or 121mph and 9.3 seconds (diesel - which also delivers a remarkable 58.9mpg in the combined cycle.)
Whatever the engine, its specially-developed sports chassis is tuned for secure handling with great driver involvement - just like its VXR sibling. It's also lowered, and features Vauxhall's ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) as standard, and provides steering with variable progressive feedback.
Externally, it features a neat front spoiler, deep body-coloured sills, 17-inch alloys, chrome sports exhaust and subtle tailgate spoiler. Internally, sporty highlights include red-detailed sports seats, a leather-rimmed wheel with red inserts, alloy pedals and red seatbelts.
