V HAPPENING

TRIPLE CROWN
At the end of August, Vauxhall celebrated a fantastic achievement as it was declared the UK’s biggest-selling car brand for the third consecutive month - achieving that extremely elusive hat-trick for the first time in the company’s history, selling 11,851 new cars in August, to beat its closest competitor by 2154 units. The Astra was the UK’s overall best-selling model, totalling 4520 sales; and with 3134 sales, Corsa was both the best-selling supermini and the most popular car overall among private buyers – while Zafira topped the MPV charts and Vectra continued to lead the large family car market. In the words of Vauxhall Managing Director Bill Parfitt, ‘a third month at the top proves that Vauxhall has a brilliant range of products, and that their new generation of design and dynamic driving attributes is proving the hit we expected with British buyers. We are very proud of our growth in 2007’. The next record is unlikely to be far away. . .
NAMES AND NUMBERS
As the October auction of DVLA Personalised Registrations approached, a bidding frenzy was in prospect as WE57 HAM was due to come under the hammer (sorry) – and some wealthy

West Ham fan was tipped to knock London rivals Arsenal from the top of the unofficial Premier League of personalised registrations. In 2004, AR53 NAL went for a whopping £36,000, just pipping the £35,000 paid for V1 LLA. Tough luck all you Borussia Monchengladbach supporters…

TATTOOS FOR YOU!
If pimping rides is for the boys, piling on the glam could be the girl’s way to fight back.
With the car customisation trend growing, Vauxhall asked cutting-edge designers (and VX Collective members) Precious McBane to create a range of ‘car tattoos’, and accessories to add the personal touch. You can download dozens of vibrantly coloured tattoo designs from www.vxcollective.co.uk, print them onto sticky backed vinyl, and use them to adorn your car for however long you choose. For interiors, Precious McBane (see our Girl Power story) has created a series of car-charm patterns too, from heart mobiles to phone-cradling bananas. Just download the patterns and craft them in your own choice of fabric – like the tattoos, they’re completely free.
