distinctive spiky blond hairstyle, loves to spend his time away from racing in the same way as many other twenty-somethings. A bit of football, music, parties, fashionable clothes and cool sports.

Don't be mistaken in thinking though that he's anything but deadly serious about his racing.

Having been the youngest driver in the world to be granted a National B racing licence (at 13 years and 10 months), Chilton has known little in his life except racing. 'At the moment it seems like I'm always on either a race circuit or an aeroplane, so my life is quick! Born and raised in Reigate, Surrey, Tom's approach to his leisure time is as enthusiastic as his love for life. 'I like a bit of everything to relax. When I'm training, I do mountain biking and road biking, rowing, cross-country running. It's all about being a complete athlete so you have to mix it up a bit'. And he travels twice a month to Poole, to be put through his paces by ex-Royal Marine and F1 fitness trainer, Bernie Shrosbree. 'I also enjoy things like sailing, surfing, too, and now I want to get into kite surfing. In the last two years, an extremely successful entry into the world of international sports car racing has also meant that the young Briton is in demand in more than one category of racing.

His commitments to Vauxhall and the British Touring Car Championship remain his priority, but if the chance to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans beckons...

Despite the obvious differences, Vauxhall's three drivers appear to have gelled together very well as team mates, and whenever they're together it never takes long before the conversation turns back to racing and to how to squeeze that extra tenth of a second out of their VX Racing Astra Sport Hatch cars.
